Easter Update 2026

We hope that everyone is having a nice time over the Easter holidays. We send you some ‘virtual’ cake made by Stephen to enjoy whilst you read our updates.

(The real cakes we sent to the St James’ Neonatal Unit where Stephen was working on Thursday)

Literature review

The literature review will be published very shortly, and we will send more information out when that happens. The abstract has been published which will shortly be followed with the full paper at this same webpage.

Disruptions to safety and adaptations experienced by parents and caregivers who administered prescribed medicines to children at home: A systematic review using a framework synthesis

Interview study with families

We put more details about this on our last blog post. We are up to 12 families now, have spoken to at least 8 after discharge and completed 25 interviews in total. We will now use the remaining spots to target families in underserved groups. We are also hoping to recruit from Bradford and Wakefield, and are thankful of all the hard work those hospitals are doing to support our study.

Interview study with professionals

We have started to progress with this study now the family study is nearing an end. We have quite a few interviews booked in for this month. We are still looking to interview more though, so if you are interested please contact us: minimeds AT leeds.ac.uk

Currently we have booked in interviews with: a community outreach nurse, a hospital nurse, a pharmacy assistant and a GP. We’d still like to speak to hospital doctors, pharmacists and anyone else who supports families to use medicines.

Workshops with families and professionals

We are starting to plan these for later this year. The provisional dates will be the 1st Saturday in October and November. Stay tuned for more on this.

Card game

You may remember we wrote a while ago about developing a card game to help teach professionals about what it is like for parents to give medicines to their children. Well, we’ve had this on the back burner but we now have a protype and will be testing it over the coming months. We’ll then revise the prototype, get some designers to make it look ‘professional’, and then look to share it more widely.

Parent advisory group

The next meeting will be planned for just before the summer holiday (late June / early July). Please stay tuned for updates.

That’s everything for now. Thanks for reading!
