MINIMEDs family study is up and running!

I am pleased to share with you that our research study that is listening to and learning from parent experiences is now open for business. In fact, we have already had the first family join the study.

Jenni (parent) shows Stephen (researcher) how she gives medicines to her daughter at home during a hospital visit.

This (admittedly slightly awkward) photo was taken after Jenni and Chris had done their first interview. Here they are showing me how they give their child some medicine using a feeding tube. They shared their feedback on taking part in the study too.

“We are keen to help the development of the best possible support for families with managing medication. We hope we can offer insight with our experiences that shapes what happens next.”

Parents Chris and Jenni

We are very grateful to the first few families we have spoken to. They have all been very generous to answer our questions and share their experiences with us. MINIMEDs will recruit 20 families in West Yorkshire over the next 6 months. The learning from this study will inform the next study which will involve workshops with families and professionals to decide what, where and when support should be provided to all families so they can use medicines safely at home. See our studies page for more details.
