Hello,
First off, I am sorry there has been a bit of a gap between postings. But rest assured that there is a lot going on at MINIMEDs HQ. I have actually started quite a few blog posts, but just not finished any yet. This is mainly because they involve consultation work with families and they are not quite ready yet. Some topics I will post about are:
- Playing games as a way to learn about medicines
- Playing with toys as a way of learning about medicines
I will just quickly update you on some of the work we have been doing…
Research
We have been to the Health Research Authority (HRA) Research Ethic Committee (REC). The HRA REC is where you go to get permission to do research in the NHS. We’ve now been to the committee and waiting for them to approve our research. Once this happens, it will kick off a busy summer and autumn for us as we get busy visiting NHS hospitals and talking to families about their experiences of using medicines.

Public Involvement
I also did 2 public involvement events in just the last week alone. I will write about those and make a video about our recent PAG meeting which was held in Leeds. And also I went to Sheffield to meet families who have used the Children’s Cardiology service at Leeds (see picture). Thank you to the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund who made us feel very welcome. And also the families who were very open and honest about their experiences.

Other news…
Some good news we had recently was winning a prize at a medical conference held in Leeds. It’s great to know that our research is seen as being important and that we are being heard.

Things are starting to wind down as we move towards the summer holidays in terms of meetings and presentations. There will be more opportunities for us to share our research in the autumn. I will be sure to keep you updated with any other events we attend.
Stay tuned for further updates.
